The first fancy event held in Zachary’s Honor was actually Cocktails for Zach! We have incorporated a cocktail hour only option into our now annual Bowties & Butterflies event!
WHY BOWTIES AND BUTTERFLIES?
Dear Friends,
For those who know us well, it’s no secret that special relationships and having a really good time in life with the people I love are an integral part of my life. Zachary shared my passion for this aspect of our lives and our social events were among the highlights of his life. As he was experiencing his journey with Nut Midline Carcinoma we had many conversations about the fun we shared with friends and family and it was Zachary's desire to have a big party the summer he was sick and to also gather our family for a repeat of the special family vacation we took several years prior. These were the two things Zachary was most focused on for fun that horrendous summer of 2016.
I shared his desire to gather our friends and family together and kept looking for opportunities between treatments and the new challenges that we were faced with on a weekly basis to get some fun on the calendar. I wanted Zachary to be able to enjoy these events and as we were focused on his complete recovery we began to look forward to holding them as celebrations for his remission and recovery. He was so excited and proud to attend the Cocktails for Zachary fundraiser in June. True to Zach's style, he chose to wear his dress blues to the event not caring who else wore what. Zach had a passion for dressing up that started when he was a young teen. For his 6th grade graduation from Lake Mary Montessori Academy, he asked us to rent him a tuxedo and we agreed. Zach looked handsome and adorable amongst his casually dressed friends. He looked just as handsome (and adorable) in his dress blues at Cocktails for Zach which was his last opportunity in life to experience this pleasure.
The Board and Committee of Possibility have chosen two annual events in true Zachary style as anchors for the organization. The first is an annual Corn Hole Tournament, a time to get casual, hangout, chill over some beers and great conversation with friends. Zach attended the first tournament which was held only a few weeks before he passed. The second event will be the highlight for Zachary as he takes part in his own special way now. We have named it Bowties and Butterflies and it will be a black-tie event held annually the first Saturday in December the weekend before Zachary's birthday at the Marriott in Lake Mary, Florida ( for 2022 we have chosen another date due to a family wedding)
Our intention is that Bowties and Butterflies be the Event of the Year! It will be held in Zachary's honor for his birthday and in support of making tsunami size waves of kindness possible for mankind through the Place of Possibility Inc. Our focus Project of Possibility: Project Parent was announced at the 2nd Gala and has been gaining momentum ever since. Each of our events supports these parents who have a child on hospice and this year we are dedicating the 50.50 raffle to creating Christmas and a blessed holiday season for these families as well.

We also want you to know that it, of course, it is our intention that we spend an amazing evening together however if for any reasons your plans change and you can’t attend, or you know you can't attend and would just like to support us, know that we are a registered 501c3 organization.
We do know you won’t want to miss it!! This evening will offer an opportunity to don your finest apparel, or look your finest in that simple black dress/suit already hanging in the closet just waiting for an opportunity to be worn. It will be an opportunity to mingle with friends old and new and share a special evening together. An opportunity to enjoy an amazing dinner while enjoying beautiful music. An opportunity to dance and have lots of fun as we roll out several surprises during the evening. This will be an evening to remember! And we want it to be an evening for you to remember, remembering those near and dear to your heart. Rolled into this evening will be an opportunity for you (and all of us) to acknowledge what and who is important to you.
As time grows nearer we will also announce opportunities for group and corporate participation. College students and those 21 and under will receive a special discount.
